What Does a Home Inspection NOT Tell You?

A home inspection does not mean everything has been checked. When you are buying a home, a general inspection is an important first step, but there are some major things it might miss. In this video, Katherine covers what a general inspection actually includes and where it stops.

Sewer line inspections matter: the sewer line is one of the major items a general inspection may not cover, and the video explains why it is worth checking separately.

A separate pest inspection may be needed, since wood-destroying pests are outside what a general inspection reports on.

Roof and foundation concerns may require specialists to evaluate before you know what you are dealing with.

Before removing your inspection contingency, investigate anything the general report raises and order the specialty inspections the property calls for. A clean general report does not mean a home has no hidden problems.

Which specialty inspections a property needs depends on its age, type, and what the general report finds; ask your agent and inspector.
